Before you buy a new quilt, we would advise you to carefully consider what type of quilt will suit you to maximize your sleeping comfort. Your new quilt should last years and if well selected you should get value, enjoyment and sleeping comfort from your quilt from your first night's sleep.
So how do you know which quilt suits you? It's not simply a matter of price (cheap vs. expensive) or the weight of the quilt (a warm winter quilt will be too hot in tropical climates) or being confused by the nonsensical retail sales jargon e.g. "this is a 5 blanket warmth quilt"
Relying on an inexperienced sales staff member's advice is not a good idea either. Do they really know the difference between various quilt filling options? How does each quilt style suit you? Or worse still, are they just trying to sell you whatever quilt they have in stock? Does this really happen? Yes, it sure does, Be careful, its your health and sleeping comfort that is at stake here.
Based on our research and experience, Kelly & Windsor has developed a unique warmth guide for consumers to guide you to correctly select one of the Kelly & Windsor alpaca quilt collections which will best suit your particular sleeping requirements.
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a globally recognized measure of the relationship between a person's height and weight, resulting in a numerical score which is used to assess a person's actual weight against four broad categories i.e. underweight, average weight, overweight or obese weight.
Your BMI is an indexed measure of your body fat (the ratio of your height to your weight), which is very relevant to your need for warmth in your particular sleeping environment. A low BMI index result for a consumer, infers that they need a warmer quilt compared to a person with a high BMI i.e. a relative higher amount of body fat who generally needs a cooler doona or quilt.
Kelly & Windsor have developed a simple and useful BMI matrix and related it to a person's sleeping environment to assist you to select the correct alpaca bed quilt or doona. Since its release to selected retailers on a trial program, it is now proven to be a very useful and informative reference for consumers purchasing Kelly & Windsor's alpaca quilts.
Since the initial publication of our BMI guide we have added some new alpaca quilt collections to our range and have updated the BMI quilt selection guide to assist you with your purchase.
